All pendant earrings can be made with gold or silver hooks which are often better suited to those who suffer irritation. The stud earrings all have a stainless steel back which is considered ideal for those with sensitive ears. Like silver and gold, brass will develop a patina over time. This process may accelerate through contact with hair products and perfumes. You might appreciate these changes but if this is not your cup of tea, each piece can be cleaned either with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.   Ensure your earrings do not come into contact with perfumes and hair products. They should always be removed before sleeping, swimming and showering.   Brass only earrings can also be submerged in lemon juice to bring them back to new. Ensure the earrings are rinsed and dried thoroughly.   To extend the time it takes for the earrings to tarnish, it helps to keep them in their cotton bag, thus reducing oxidisation of the metals.

The base metal for the majority of earrings is brass, either left raw or plated in matt gold or silver. The coloured elements are stainless steel coated in a tactile, hardwearing matte paint.
